Hailey, who recently received a substantial inheritance, is a contributor to the Victorian Railroad Trust. She charmed its board into letting her apply to be the engineer for this year’s steam train excursion. She received extensive training and even had to join the train operator’s union. Her husband, Detective Inspector Aram, is serving as her fireman. “It’s good exercise,” he says. Haven’t seen Aram and Hailey together for a while, since they spent the night at Quayside.
