Description

Greetings! So, after about a month of being disconnected from my rendering computer I was finally allowed back in to reestablish the networking. It seems my institution availed itself of the opportunity to upgrade some switching hardware on mass while most of us were working from home. But they did not take the time to fully configure it all. Remote access to systems on the workstation networks being one of those oversights. That being said, I am now returning to my workplace at least one day per week so I can tackle these bugs as they occur. Nevertheless, I am still working from home most days. A situation likely to last until the New Year.1 And virtual meetings with Microsoft Teams will continue to be the norm in times to come. With that, a colleague of mine asked if I could create a Teams/Zoom background that was more, well, normal. No dystopian cityscapes (I haven't posted that one yet) or menacing alien cows (I haven't posted that one either ).2 I thought that my aurora piece was pretty normal/natural but some people just want the conventional. So after some tinkering, this landscape took shape. This is really my first effort at depicting ice in a natural setting3 and I really wanted to create the sensation of "coldness" in the environment. In any case, I hope you enjoy. And I hope all of you are well and staying safe. Now I must mow my lawn. Cheers! References: 1I am saving a lot of money not driving. 2Oops! 3Calling a scene "alien" is a nice 'get out of jail free card' when something does not look right.44Do I date myself with the 'Monopoly' reference?

Yes, I can understand the desire to view more "traditional" and calming scenes during these weird times...I think you've achieved that goal nicely with this scene...excellent job on the ice, by the way...I'm certain you understand what sort of hot mess we have in the US...According to the real scientists, we will be lucky to see some normalcy perhaps by the end of '21...that is if the beast doesn't get reelected, then who knows. For the life of me, I still don't understand how his "supporters" can't see through him...stay well, Clayton, and be appreciative that you live in Canada.

Thanks Barb. I am grateful that I live in Canada and only have to fend off the type of politics Trump and his enablers engage. Alas, Trump has his fans here who speak of the "need" to embrace the 'new normal' of 'Trumpism'. You take care as well.

i'm really liking the depth and variance in the colouring of this... is this what things look like through those proverbial 'rose coloured glasses'? if so, i think i need to get a pair ;)

This really looks fantastic, my friend! It's certainly been a screwy year, and it just seems like it's never going to end sometimes.

Superb image Clayton, And I expect it will be a hit with your team. I love your image. I've summoned this very eagle to soar through the highest vistas myself, when I was immersed in Vue. Great all around.
