Description

Here's an illustration I created to illustrate a story in an upcoming prose anthology. The printed illustration will be in just b&w, but I changed it to a blue tint for posting here on R'osity. In the story, the detective (Drift Marlo, an old Detective character who has fallen into the public domain) is riding off to a case with his long-suffering assistant, Claire. She was hoping to use the 30-minute car ride to discuss their relationship, but the cad has put the top down on his 1961 Corvette convertible so there's too much wind for a long chat: hence their expressions. Honestly, I find it harder to create quiet scenes with nuanced body language and expressions than it is to create a highly-charged, dramatic scene. FIGURES: Stephanie Petite 3 (with Egypt Hair) & Michael 4 (with a variety of morphs applied for the face & hair by Ali). Created with my standard workflow: Poser Pro 11 Renders combined and cleaned in Clip Studio Paint. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - UPDATE 05-AUG-2021 I was watching a Poser 12 tutorial over at YouTube today and was thrilled to see that they selected THIS ILLUSTRATION to appear in the title sequence. It's at the 2-second mark as the images fly by (literally, it's a blink-and-you'll-miss it moment). I'm not sure if the YouTube link will work, so if you'd like to see it, please go to YouTube and search for this title: Poser 12 Tutorial: SuperFly Render Settings: Pixel Samples

Reminds me so much of the A-ha music video "Take On Me"... I love that video and I love this image.

Very well done!

Sometimes the quiet scenes are those that make the biggest impact! I like the story and the illustration to go along with it! It has a great retro quality about it! Excellent and very well done! :-)

Has that song video look that was a frame by frame work like this. Song was "take on me" I think. A spectacular piece of work. 5+

That wasn't even in my mind when I started this, but now that a bunch of you have mentioned it, I can't help but see it! Thanks!

Thank you so much! I really appreciate that. I put a lot of work into it (honestly, more than I usually put into an action shot) and I'm gratified to know if paid off.

Thanks! I can't tell you how many times I added the speed lines, then pulled them off, and then put them back again. In the end, I'm glad I went with my first instincts and kept them.
