Description

Christine looks about how I feel these days, just waiting for the next shoe to drop. At the end of August, Allie (13 year old granddaughter) came off her skateboard and broke her ankle in three places, broke the fibula and pushed a tendon out of place. The operation to pin everything back in place went well and she is on the mend. Ten days later my brother found my Mother (almost 90) sitting on the porch just after breakfast. She had decided to trim the bush below her window, turned badly putting too much stress on her upper femur shattering it just below the ball. That required an emergency hip replacement. She is now in rehab but we can’t let her come home. With her progressing dementia it just isn’t safe for her to be alone and we can’t do 24/7 supervision. Sometime next week we three children are going to have to tell her that the new normal is a nursing home, albeit a nice one. She once told us that when she could no longer care for herself, she wanted to go to a Home. Now that time is here and none of us are sure she will remember her “request”. On top of all of this is the local schools remote learning experiment. The first three days told everyone involved with our grandchildren that it wasn’t going to work if they had to do it alone. Ray and I have taken over supervising Sean (11) and Caitlin (9) during the week. It is taking all day and every bit of patience I don’t have. Poor Sean has the most Boring teacher we have ever encountered. At least Caitlin and I have good, supportive people to deal with but it is still draining. Sorry for the whine but I just wanted you to know why I am not around these days. This too shall pass. Jeeze.... It's always something... Like there's not enough stress this year. Poor Allie - I hope her pain goes away and full healing finds her quickly. And I hope everything works out for your mom as well. It's never easy dealing with things like that. I feel your pain.

Last Thursday we got a call from my brother-in-law's wife.. He's had lots of health issues the last couple years. He has severe diabetes, and a few months ago the had to amputate a toe from his right foot. Now, they can't seem to clean out the infection, so they had to take off his leg at mid-calf. He seems to be doing OK, but it's got Jo so depressed she doesn't even seem to enjoy her favorite shows anymore.

This year has sucked with a capital S...

At first, I thought that was another of your character write-ups, then I realized it was real. You've got a lot on your plate. It makes my troubles look like nothing. I hope everything works out, 2020 can't be over soon enough.

Wow, when it rains it pours. I'm sorry to hear about all the troubles your family is going through. But you're right; the bad times will pass.

This is one class act, Teri! Superb finish and your choice of clothing rocks! Just as importantly, I'm so sorry there is such medical trauma in your family. Your Mother will flourish with people her own age around her. Not forgetting the caring nature of so many of the caring staff, working in homes like this. My Wife, being one of them. Stay safe!.... Please!!!

This superb, though introspective composition echoes the many troubles you've been through over the past few weeks, and I hope you will muddle through all this, thanks to your inner faith and the sense of living that comes from your graphic artwork. Please, don't give up! 🖐️🙂

It certainly has been a "different" year for most...I am truly sorry for all the terrible episodes you've had to endure, which I do believe you've experienced some of the worst possibilities...none of us can just give in though...we must keep "a stiff upper lip" and look to the other side for better days...be thankful that you have a family in which you can take solace and support.

Hey Teri,

We are used to saying that it takes nine months to make children and around twenty years to be one of them: it seems to be a misconception; it takes forever... I feel sorry for you my friend and I hope that everything will be in order quickly, especially since I have no tutorials on the subject: only Rabbit's jokes! Cheers, my dear.

good lord, out of one long trial and into several others, all at once...I'm very sorry for all that's happened to you in the last months, and I hope everyone is well or better now. And that your mom will be receptive to a home. A lot of burdens on you these days. And you're called to do what so many parents and grandparents have to do for children and teens during covid....I can see why you're at your wit's end. I hope it gets easier, Teri, and that everyone---incl you---are well or getting well. Your image definitely shows someone exhausted...but I hope your experience picks up the beauty in your image: If your days can have some of the colors your model's outfit has, you'll be feeling some uplift. (Beautiful image.) I'm very sorry for all you're dealing with, and I hope all of you will find peace and health soon. (I'm just back for one image tonight p/gallery tonight, but I'll get to others soon...)

You know, that it's said that if life hands you lemons, make lemonade. However, if those lemons are bad or rotten, what do you do then? I understand the frustration you are going through. I wish the best for all of your family.

Great lighting and texturing, especially on the floorboards and on the dress, which is amazingly well-done the way it drapes on Christine's figure.

Didn't know you went through so much this year. I do hope Allie and your mother have at least significantly recovered by now.
