Description

Wild World, sometimes honoured with the definite article as "The Wild World" is a small super Earth which orbits the star Lambda Aurigae about 42 light years from Earth. It is well known for the beauty of its landscapes and the complexity and interest of an extensive native ecosystem. The walk over the pass in the Ynvell mountains between Hynellin and Lendspa is a celebrated tourist route, which most reasonably fit visitors can easily complete in a day. It climbs steeply by a series of spectacular cascades known as the staircase waterfalls before leaving dense woodland and crossing the high meadows, where the bright red blood flowers and purple kings chalice grow in profusion. Here we see a view point on the pass in the Ynvell mountains at the height of summer.

This is designed to add to my World Anvil project and is also part of my Terragen learning curve. Landscaped and rendered in Terragen with some free Xfrog plants and a free bench object. The figure was composed and exported from Daz studio and there was a bit of photoshop post work to adjust colour balance and add the bird and butterflies. I learned quite a few things making this one, mainly about working with populations (which to be honest, I don't think is quite as nice as it is in Vue but I have a lot more to learn about Terragen).

It certainly is a very colorful scene.

I find myself just creating portraits of some characters for my game, and leaving most in the theater of the mind, at least for now. This might change as things ramp up.

Ah, you are a World Anvil user yourself I take it? I must admit I'm enjoying pulling together material over there. In my case, I'm not using it for a role playing resource but as a way to showcase some old story writing (and some new ones too) and to illustrate bits and pieces here and there. The illustrations aren't directly related to the stories but they flesh out the background a bit and I'm borrowing quite a bit of my existing gallery images. It's not ready to be opened up quite yet, although I've been tinkering with it for almost a year. I need to finish the main and central story for the first "world", first and that's been taking me a very long time. I'm close to finishing now though, so hopefully it'll be opened later this month or November. And in the mean time I have lots of theatres of the mind that might provide inspiration for a few more pieces of art work too...
