Although I'm not a Poser user, I find this interesting. I have Couple of questions:

  • Does this affect rendering time?
  • Is it possible to assign different values on different parts of the model? It seems that value 60 is good enough for the body, but front grille needs at least 120.

At least in this model the render time was the same on all settings. It appears that the setting affects the entire model. I can only surmise, and I haven't tried it out yet, but if the model was in separate pieces and not parented, you might be able to just affect one group at a time. But to be sure, I would have to try it, and at this writing, I haven't. Thanks for commenting!

I confess complete ignorance, since I do not use Poser. What is the crease angle?

It is the angle that affects how smoothly your object will render. I don't know if DAZ has a similar setting. I haven't used DAZ in a long time. If you take a close look at the above images, you can see that the model gets smoother as the crease angle increases. Thanks for the comment!

That turned out a lot better than changing the SubD level in Daz Studio. Very interesting.

But if the crease angle is greater than 0 you will get render artifacts for example Richabri's LG Station will show ribs on the sand. It totally depends on mesh design no matter what version of Poser you are using. With high poly models you generally can ignore it.

OK..... I've been playing with Poser for a bit over 10 years, and - believe it or not - have never messed with this.... Now, you've given me something else to experiment with, Bill. Thanks for that, buddy! I'll be up 'till 3:00 AM again.... 🤣😆👍
