Description

Project Music Artist: Sound Players Album: Pangea Song: Pangea (Ben Nicky & Rebecca Soforia Remix) Camera: 200 mm Nik Collection Viveza 2 Well did everyone upgrade to Daz Studio 4.14? I’ve played around with the filament render engine. I think Daz early released too quick but it shows a lot of promise. Filament instantly renders yours image in the viewport. And I think this new render engine is primarily put into Daz Studio so that Daz can be on cutting edge in animations. If you can create instant renders of your viewport then animation becomes a huge reality. The output of your scene, well… it looks different than iRay. And this is where I think Filaments needs a lot of work because Filament interprets your model’s textures differently. It just looks different and presents the light differently even with new light package from Kindred Arts, it just looks different. On Elianeck’s Nanah model it showed the UV seams on the model’s head, and you just can’t have seams showing on your model in your image. In my opinion it just needs more work and refinement. I think however the overall upgrade may have given iRay a small boost in render performance also. For example, this image of Marcius’ model, Minako, I set the time to finish at 100,000, I max the MIN and MAX, set quality at 1000 and convergence at 100% and typically that would run for about 6 to 8 hours depending up the lighting. This image same setting and it took about 4 hours, which surprised me. It could be just a coincidence though. I’d have to keep using version 4.14 to see if the render times are consistent with the noticed performance boost. Anyway, fool around with Filament see what you think. I suggest Interior Light Pro for Filament and Atmosphere for Filament to get your feet wet.
