Description
In Kushite tradition, the rulers were determined through matrilineal succession. The sister of the king would be mother of the next ruler and also regent, given the title Kandake (misinterpreted by western chroniclers of the time as a name, which is where we get Candace). The most famous of these was Amanirenas, who was also queen in her own right, and defeated the Roman army of Augustus when he invaded North Africa after the death of Cleopatra (the subject of my illustration "the Lionesses" from a couple of years ago).
This version is my first trial using LAMH Catalyser (for the Lion)... not an entire success, but I thought I'd share the result anyway. It took over 6 hours to render even at this low setting so though I plan on tweaking it, it will be a while before i get it done!

Impressive mane, nevertheless: I have not yet managed to get any LAMH product to work, but I haven't looked into that, much, either (if I recall rightly, the problem was having the free viewer and the programme installed at the same time). But rendering hair takes some time - just killed my machine this afternoon with a beard and a moustache...

The lion mane - to me - is the star. Especially that bit of light that hits its edge. Fabulous combination of blue white light and texture, amidst all that intense warmth. I also appreciate that angle that includes the very beautiful carved trim near the ceiling - in the stone structure behind and all around her.
