as you have so elegantly described the situation in which we find ourselves.
A very graphic image, as are so many in your language.
The main drive is, frankly, kaputt.
This is, after all, a very old ship, and I advised the owners of its unsuitability for further space travel.
They, however, felt that they might well lose a considerable amount of money should it be withdrawn from service now.
But all is not lost.
I have been in commnication with my colleagues on Earth and other planets and though we might have to wait here a while, I am sure help will soon be on its way.
And we are already in touch with the ship's owners; you will be properly compensated for this inconvenience.
