Normally, I just just get obsessed with one prop that I want to use, then end up building a scene around it. I think a lot of the time I end up with scene of what I think neurotypical people must live like.

I have to agree with Jollyself, I always feel like I am either on the other side of the room, or I am the lucky one taking the picture. It is nice to feel you are already in the picture.
