the tribe of Native Americans that lived in the canyon were robbing ranches in Oklahoma. The US Calvary secretly went into the canyon at night and during the night they attacked the tribe killing almost everyone including women and children.
only memories are left.

Brings back a lot of memories.... When my dad was stationed at Amarillo Air Force Base, we went there a number of times. I was in the Boy Scouts then, and our troop had several camp-outs there. Palo Duro is an amazing and beautiful place. You captured it well, Richard.
