Description

Said farewell to a friend today... I don't know if this is a fitting tribute, but it's the best I can do at the moment. Black and white, and a little grainy, because that's how he did it... John Stewart Farrier was a great British documentary photographer that I had the pleasure to work with on a number of projects over the past few years, I am sad to see him go. Irreverent, humorous, ever the "snappy dresser", eternally optimistic, he was a genuinely nice guy, probably best described as a "typical English gentleman". And yet, at the same time, he managed to be the widest of "wide-boys", brokering deals, middle manning the hell out of schemes and plans, arranging things long-term, short-term and every term in between, never sitting still. He could be a pain; phoning me at the most inopportune times to discuss whatever was next and uppermost in his mind (a special quality he seemed to have honed over the years), missing the odd deadline, changing the goal posts, but that didn't matter. It was quite something to see one guy keeping so many things going at the same time (the last time we spoke, he had no less than five separate projects to discuss!). I don't think I'll have as much fun with other projects as I had with his. I'd swear about him at the time, but in truth, I'll miss all that. A good man, and a great talent for sure. Rest well Sir... http://johnfarrier.co.uk/ http://theblackandwhiteroom.co.uk/

Thanks buddy. Send all good wishes to his family, I'm sure they miss him like crazy. And do follow the links and take a look at his work. Talent like that should live forever....

Sincere condolences for your loss. It is hard to express emotions when one is affected so much by the person's presence. This is entirely fitting and I have no doubt John would approve. Nice one Sir!
