This old historic theater opened in 1922 as the Lyric Theater, a single screen theatre. It featured live entertainment and movies. It was one of the earliest theaters constructed in the state. It was remodeled in the late-1930’s to the plans of architect Frank Love.

I'm sorry I haven't been around, Richard...after my sister passed, the crush of legal and other matters took over my life; and then I needed to catch up on my health, as covid was hitting so many people around me. I've seen all your uploads, and one day soon I hope to comment on more...but for now I want to pay my respects to one of our best photographers and most loyal members (you), with a comment or two.

I love this shot, an abandoned old theater, once with glory. Love that art deco ornament in the center of the billboard (I bet the interior has designs like it, too), the utterly blank billboard, the sad neon surrounding it, the "for rent" sign, and that "for rent" reflection in the glass (I believe)---poignant stuff. Love the old brick too, and the pomp and circumstance now in deep slumber. Fine head-on shot, with dignity and stick-to-it-iveness that the best of these old theaters often have. One of your many urban and town shots that ooze with americana...fine work.

What a lovely theater building face. It looks very classic. Like out of the 1950s.
