Description

My first test render of my (almost complete, but not quite) materials set for Victoria 8.1. The good news is that the face, torso, arms, and legs UV maps all match Genesis 8, so getting those set up is a matter of changing some of my existing resources to work with the new PBR skin shader. The bad news is that the back of the head and neck are on their own UV map now, and not part of the torso, so I'm going to have to create those from scratch. (The in-between news is that for the short term, I can just change the UV set on that surface to use the G8 UV map, so it can use a G8 torso map. But the difference in resolution density between the face and the rest of the head has caused seams that have been my nemesis for years, so I'm looking forward to actually being able to have consistent resolution there.) And there are a few maps that the new shader uses (roughness detail weight, and the tiny tiling roughness detail maps themselves) that I haven't built yet. And I haven't touched the inside of the mouth yet... the new UVs are MUCH better than the old mouth ones, but, honestly, how many renders need a lot of detail inside the mouth?
