The Dark Elves, originally known as the Northern Wood Elves were a thriving society up until the Demon-Orc-Hobgoblin war. The army of Wood Elves rode out to battle with the enemy away from their capital city. They were caught in an ambush by the Demons with support from the hobgoblins and Orcs. The Demon forces were so numerous they completely overwhelmed the Wood Elves. Knowing that the army had been decimated the nine leaders of the Wood Elves rode out to make a deal with the Demons.
