Description
Mother Angel and daughter Clarissa denying passage after a fight of some sort or another...this scene started with s lot more assets, drama and whatnot but the old 1080TI got cranky so I stripped it to as simple a setting as possible. Likely missed a little here and there but I got cranky also...
Both characters are armed with early 18th century weapons showing both English and Flemish influence as did most martial arms in the reign of Queen Anne. Both assets are still in development but getting close. The musket is an early flintlock (as opposed to a doglock) and is iron mounted per the original used as a model. It will also be modeled mounted in brass per the pistol. A lot of work went into shapes. proportions, markings and textures.
Scene stays true to Bernard Cornwell's Rifleman principle - clothes dirty, weapons clean.
Assets featured:
Angel by Mousso (DAZ)
Arion Braid by Goldtassel
Baroque Ballroom Gown by Angel93
Clarissa by Sangriart
Karissa hair by AprilYSH
Taavi under armor by SecondCircle
Queen Anne Musket (iron) by Eltuco3d and precogplasma
English Dragoon Pistol by Eltuco3d and precogplasma

Lovely work. The simplicity actually allows us to focus on the main things. Great characters and guns.

Thanks Alias!
gaius
If you say so...superb image which can be appreciated as a page of glorious history.
jdwtrxk
Thanks gaius - wish there were more historically focused assets available for artists to explore - accuracy doesn't hurt in fantasy or near fantasy renderings a bit. Hopefully these weapons' will be included in a pair of asset sets for the Age of Pirates.
Your recent Atrium scene shows how fun historical and near historical scenes can be,
Radar_rad-dude
Wonderful character and image! Most excellent work on this! Fantastic creation! Bravo!
jdwtrxk
Thanks radar - popped the girls into a road after the original scene was in front of their burning home - now their cold...

NobbyC
Great image!!! Reminds me of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. ;-)
ACue
Probably works better without all the other "bits". Great scene.
jdwtrxk
LOL Nobby didn't think of that but should have.
jdwtrxk
Might be right ACue my GPU thinks so..

Thanks anitalee!

Love this one too. Dark and moody, and the expression on the taller one's face is just priceless. That's nearly everything you need to know, right there. :)
jdwtrxk
Thanks Bella - the mother is definitely angry :)
jmattatall
Excellent work!

Oh bummer...I wanted to get to the other side for some fun :-( I suppose it is not worth arguing :-) Cool render!
jdwtrxk
Not after what you did - or they think you did :) Thanks!
mich40ish
Wonderful image. Love the menace in Angel’s eyes. And the flintlocks are spectacular.
jdwtrxk
Thanks Mich - lot of time in the guns. Very few artists do much with early 18th century stuff which is interesting given the interest in pirates and swashbucklers. Some of the best period correct guns in cinema recently were the fowlers in The Favorite. These two were based on surviving military originals.

Unbelievable fabulous awesome render, a most impressive composition, magnificent Masterpiece of Finest Arts. I love it! Their determination stance is a clear message, nothing will pass.

A belated thanks marius - going through the old scenes trying to figure out a few things for the next...had a tendency to respond without clicking the green thingie....
jdwtrxk
Thanks Marius - was fun to do.
