Description

There was a time … but I didn’t think. SHE was there, at my side - and - had I but reached out to her then, and let her know that she was precious … Ah, never mind. It was so long ago, and I was far too young to appreciate her love. She had asked me to escort her to the Ball as her partner - well, I am no dancer, but I think she knew that, and just wanted to know - to know whether I cared for her or not. After the dancing was over we went back to her aunt’s house. She was rather quiet. Had I then moved closer to her out to her and - I think she would have come to me and put her arms round my neck and kissed me. But I was young and did not think. She went her way, and I mine. Maybe we were not suited; but I still wonder if she felt I had let her down. It was all many, many years ago, and yet, and yet, I still think of her, and wish - silly old fool that I am - wish that I had realised …
