after yesterday, was determined to learn about the appearance editor and color ids. i think i can manage thru it ok now, you have to know your colors needed for the different options, setting up color ids for different material zones can get overwhelming and confusing, so it helps have an understanding of the mesh and uv layout. the coat was actually a good example to learn from, a lot of hiccups ran me thru the gauntlet, but in the end i did learn a lot. i have to admit, the color id system to break up characters or clothes into sections is amazing.
