I love Monterrey, but have not been back since 1993 after going 33 times. I was working in San Antonio and went down over the weekend.
I called a friend from Durango, Mexico tonight and he told me that he has had no contact with his relatives for months. he is very concerned about their well being

the mountain on the left side is called Topo Chico, being the shortest of the major mountains surrounding Monterrey

A nice nostalgic capture. I spent a couple of days in Monterrey a long time ago, on my way to Big Sur, and am nostalgic of those days, while looking at your photo, after reading your narrative about it.

I don't know why it never occurred to me that there are Joshua trees down in Mexico, too :D These photos are a little like a time machine--I'm sorry places in Mexico are so dangerous right now, it seems to come and go. I hope things improve there and your friend's family are just busy.
