Amber was told not to go too far into the woods near town. You never knew what you might find. Amber, being 11, was sure she would be fine and found her curious steps moving deeper into the forest, her eyes sampling the amazing sights of the early Summer growth. After wandering through glade after glade, smelling the heady scents of an abundance of flowers, she realised it was probably time to get home. After all, she was getting hungry. Now, which way was it? Oh yes, the Sun had been to her left when she set off, so all she had to do was keep it to the right and she would soon come to something she recognised. Striding confidently off, she hummed to herself. What an adventure she was having. Arriving on the shores of a small, and utterly unfamiliar lake, she looked around herself curiously, as she wandered it's banks. How had she not seen this on her way out? More to the point, how had she never seen it before - it must be near home. It was at that point she recognised that she had been out WAY longer than she had thought and with her heart sinking she realised that she had made a careless mistake in the haze of her enjoyment. Of course the Sun moved across the sky, so she should have still kept it to her left in the afternoon. Ok, she could still fix this. If she moved quickly she could still get home. Now where had she come out of the forest? With increasing alarm, she realised that she had not noticed where she had arrived on the shores of the lake and began to wander. Worse still, the Sun was getting lower. Fear began to set in, her eyes seeing - but not noticing - the flowers and butterflies that had so enchanted her earlier, as she looked around increasingly desperately for the way back.
