I was wondering what gives away that a render is just that a render and no a photo . so this render uses a 4k texture for the soil with high poly grass with 4 k textures possibly one of the most realistic grasses I have and this high poly pair of boots that have 8k textures on them .Rendered in vue creator using photometric light and path tracer render and a little bit of DOF, this appears to be the most realistic I can get out of vue at the moment but does it look like a photo? up to the viewers to decide that
Thanks for taking the time to have a look and comment

The problem is that a real photo never comes out looking this good (LOL). If you look at a real photo you will always notice the imperfections, lack of detail in certain places (usually shadows) and the "too" vibrant colors. Precise edges on the objects can also be a give-away on the render. Sharpness and detail can be your downfall. Get an old pair of boots or shoes and go out in the backyard and put them on the lawn. Now take a photo and put the image on your computer and analyze it with a side by side comparison. I think you will have a moment of self discovery. That being said, I love your work and this is just another prime example of someone working hard to get to that final level. Quality is never a bad thing!

Ah ah so that's the problem with my expensive canon Pro lenses and digital slr my photos are coming out like 3d renders instead of photos 😆🤣

I think that it looks photo-realistic. High poly models with 8K textures are new to me.

Thank you for your comments, since the demise of cornucopia 3d I have looked for other places to find stuff and in fact these boots were free ,I think I may have got them from CGTrader which has loads of free stuffsnd quite cheap models that all work very well in Vue.

Quality image..and some really credible realism...8k textures on an image this size...in my humble opinion...you probably losing more detail than your gaining...bigger image..bring them in closer let the 8k work its magic...especially if it's backed up with normal maps..or displacement....
As for what makes for a photorealistic image, that is a selective individual judgement...the only definitive way would be to have what looked like two identical images, one 3D..the other photograph.. and the final result difficult to distinguish which is which...from the viewers point of view..only then would you know if you've reached the ultimate end goal...!!

Thank you for your kind words on this subject ,the model came with 8k textures and would as you say stand an even closer look.one things for sure my grass in my garden isn't looking anywhere need as good as my 3d grass 😀

I think this is very photo real. The interesting point to me though is that as a 3-D rendering tool, any tool that can accomplish this has so much hardware and software behind it, it is amazing.I am often amazed that it is not a photo. A very beautiful view.
