Description
It's taking me awhile to get this character right. Here is yet another version in which the newly-crowned King Scarecrow announces his ascension to the Throne of Oz while the former Ruler (who knows something that his successor does not) makes his escape....

How interestingly strange! I've never thought of the 'after' in the Wizard of Oz. Great work for a book illustration.

In fact, L. Frank Baum wrote several "Oz" books after the original. Like the Star Trek and Star Wars franchises, The Wizard of Oz has spawned a huge body of spin-offs, fan fiction and variations (including my own, coming out this fall sometime😁).
The thing for me is that the original (that loosely served as the basis of the 1939 film) has been done over and over. I decided to explore and mine some of that world after the Wicked Witches are gone and Dorothy and the Wizard leave Oz (for awhile, at least 😄)
