wow...the detritus of life...the "leftovers" of life...this image has a stunning 'assault' on the viewer: We're suddenly faced with the artifacts of a lifetime. Yes, it's about games---these are chess pieces---but your chess pieces feel like symbols of life itself: the countless objects we gather, in a lifetime, and which are returned to the earth when it's over.
I love the decayed metal: the battered silver, and the rusted brass (or copper---whatever that metal is). And you crammed them in to your image, so we feel like all the games of our lives are packed tightly into an endless field...Terrific light and texture and hue. Very powerful stuff. (Shakespeare: "...the cloud-capped towers, the gorgeous palaces, the solemn temples, the great globe itself...shall dissolve...We are such stuff as dreams are made on, and our little life is rounded with a sleep"...the Tempest) Haunting and beautiful artwork.
