Description
Giuseppe Tartini born in Pirano, April 8, 1692, died in Padua, February 26, 1770, lived and worked in the Venetian cultural context.
He was an eighteenth-century violinist and composer, citizen of the Republic of Venice, author of the famous violin sonata in G minor "Il trillo del diavolo".
Last year, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of his death, I wanted to dedicate this image to his most famous work. It was partly made with Bryce (printed on canvas in 90x90 cm format), partly completed with hand-painted acrylic colors.
The base wants to represent the music of the 700 'in Venice a golden age for music. In addition to Tartini, other famous authors contributed with their works such as: Antonio Vivaldi, Baldassare Galuppi, Antonio Lotti, Tommaso Albinoni and many others.
The manual intervention with the golden yellow spirals made with acrylic colors represent the "trills". I have arranged them in bands as in the flag of the Republic of Venice to emphasize the style of the cultural origin of the work.

I don't know if I told you, but I studied classical music for many years (long, long ago). And, as a pianist, I worked with violinists...and I accompanied this piece. The "killer" passages of this piece (Il Trillo del Diavolo) are the trills combined with arpeggios and other acrobatics. One of the violinists I worked with said, "Tartini was a sadist!" I laughed...I think Tartini was just inspired...but then, I wasn't playing the violin part...
I love the many violins here, flowing out of a grand 'source', like violins coming out of a volcano. And you've bathed them in red (like the Venetian flag), and your hand-painted swirls do indeed invoke those famous trills. (Also, it's great to see physical painting from you!) I like how you make flag-bands from the long necks of the violins, to mimic the bands that fly off the Venetian flag.) (I love that flag!) A very musical image...it captures the confluence and "crowded-ness" of the Tartini. The image is melodic, ornate, and intense. A wonderful visual interpretation. (And it's great to see you here, again!)
