I am the author Lyle Aryn. Writing is my first love, my one true passion. Every since I was able to string a sentence together, it's all I've wanted to do. Websites where you can find my work and more are below.
I started using Daz Studio October 23rd of 2018, just as something to dink around with. I'd been signed up with the sight for a while, and would occasionally remember to check for freebies. I was surprised at what I had when I finally loaded up the program. I just started playing around with it, figuring it out. I'd say about 92% of what I've learned in the program I've learned just by playing around with it.
In December I went from being a dutiful son looking after his mom, to the full-time, no nights or weekends off, caretaker of my Mom. As someone who struggles with depression, anxiety and a mood disorder or two, this change has had a drastic impact on my own personal care and well-being. I turned to my blossoming love of doing digital art as a way to cope with the mountains of stress on my shoulders. I do miniature painting, too. But when you haven't slept in 4 days, handling a brush can be very messy. Not being able to paint to my own personal satisfaction was making this avenue of relaxation increasingly frustrating.
Daz Studio has an undo button that you just don't get with painting miniatures.
As my skill with the program grows, so does my confidence. I did the cover to my fifth novel, "Because the Night" using Daz Studio, as well as new covers for two previous releases. (Though they haven't been updated just yet.)
I'm looking to always improve my artistic work, no matter what the medium, and Daz Studio is no different.

It's a lovely looking render though! Not sure it looks dated, maybe just a touch flat? Some bumps and a little more specular maybe?
I've not played around with skins for a while, so don't take my word for it!
LyleAryn
Yeah, I'm going to play around with it later. Maybe borrowing the bump map from Sahira 8 or similar will spruce her up. Thanks for the look.

Thank you very much, my friend!

Great character. As to textures, I do like the ones from Colm Jackson at Daz. (in case anyone had missed it in my characters!) You can add the textures to your current skin easily enough and there is even a Bump modifier. Lots of different skin tones to get one too. Over here, I have liked using Maddelerium skins for some renders too.

Cool! I'll give them a look!

Thank you. She's got the soul of a star, and the blood of a dragon, so... it's complicated.

She is gorgeous and powerful and this is quite lovely and enjoyable. As far as suggestions: Play with dramtic light and shadow more. Think 'brain1969.'
LyleAryn
That's what I've done. Now I'm trying to do more with lots of direct light. I thinking of getting that hair shader pack that is for that purpose, if I can ever remember what it's called.

Looking really great - I love the intensity in her eyes. I do agree with your assessment on the eyes. A bit more sparkle, or light maybe just on the eyes.
It can be a real hair-puller, getting the eyes to draw you in, and communicate feelings. I've struggled with that a lot in my own story..
LyleAryn
Yeah, and these already have quite a lot of work to finagle all I can from the texture. I'm doing a render now with Twiztedmetal's eyes. See which is better.

I mix and match textures and bump maps all the time. It adds variety and interest. She’s very striking already. (Pun intended)

I realized later that getting super close to the big TV I use for a monitor doesn't give me the most accurate view of the image. I open this on my phone, and she looks great. I forget sometimes that on the TV screen I can see the gaps between the pixels when I get too close. I really ought to upgrade myself one of these days...

I love the intensity of this! The eyes sell the heck out of it.
There are two things I would try with this one.
First, the mask needs to tighten up. If the morph won't allow it, shrink it then render once with and once without. Then you can paint out the poke through post production.
Second, I'd try creating a primitive plane. Just a basic one. Then turn it into an emitter. Play with the settings on that emitter while positioning it...well, if it was me, I'd set it to her left by about 45 degrees but you've seen my stuff. I'm all about the shadows :).
If you combine that with an HDR and you'll get some really awesome lighting. There's also a trick to blend someone into their environment better but I'm carrying on WAY too much here.
I love it.
LyleAryn
Thanks for the advice! I kinda just went with it - spent a ton of time arranging fingers and hair. But now... I look at that mask and all I can see is how it "floats" and now I wanna fix it. XD
The mask for a Genesis 3 item and I just used auto-follow instead of converting it with the converter. Hmm. Now I want to play around.
Mostly, I wanted to show off the details on the sword.
Thanks again! I really do appreciate it.
