Wonderful colour and light, and a great interplay between the surprised cellist and the knowing lady at the virginal...

Intriguing choice of Vermeer too, as this one has a bawdy scene of a prostitute in the background (as opposed to the scene of faithfulness in the background of its companion "Young Woman Standing at a Virginal")...

Thank you very much. Indeed, in several paintings by Vermeer, the painting painted in the background provides a kind of possible interpretation of the scene. However, this interpretation often remains open, without being always certain of the tone it sets.
