Description

my Great Grand Father was a civil war prisoner of the confederates along with another man. he wrote in a journal everything that happened each day he was there, including how many cells, the sorry excuse for food. he escaped along with the other prisoner making it safely out of the Confederate held territory his journal was difficult to understand because many words then had other meanings. the Alvin museum had it for a long time. finally a scholar offered to translate it and it is in print " Through the Storms "and for sale at Amazon

there were people in the way. I managed to avoid having them in the picture, but it looks like I was drunk!

What an amazing man you’re Great Grandpa was.

The book would be very interesting to read.

The arch is a beautiful piece of history.

Thanks very much for sharing.

wow, that is an interesting piece of family history, a great grandfather and you are in the civil war four generations and we've gone from gunpowder to world destroying bombs and rockets... governments need to reassess their spending :)

Wonderful detail in this archway, Richard.

My ancestors also fought in the Civil War on the Union side. I never was able to find much information, though..
