Description
H.M.S. Glorious in the waters off Norway in 1940. H.M.S. Glorious was one of the British carriers operating off the coast of Norway in 1940 invasion of Norway. Gloster Gladiator was still the main fighter on Royal Navy carriers. One of the last of its kind.

Obsolete, out-classed, out-dated, over-matched; but somehow still beautiful and utilitarian. Brave warriors at the helm.

Nice historical image. My father has been fighting in Narvik against German troops.

Very good image of Glorious. She had brought on board a squadron of Gladiators during the evacuation of Norway in June 1940. She also had on board a couple of Hurricanes which, through incredible pilot skill, were able to land on the carrier. On her way back to Britain the Courageous, and her two escorting destroyers Acasta and Ardent, were intercepted and sunk by the German battle cruisers Scharnhorst and Gneisenau.
