You too?! I've always interpreted that preference as an indication of an artistic temperament. Geometry is representation and concrete structure; algebra is abstract reasoning. Logicians prefer the latter, artists instinctively prefer the former.

Well, I can't say that I've ever discussed folk's mathematical preferences in relation to their artistic proclivities but it makes a certain sense.
