Went there as a child. Could see the mountain for hours before we ever got there. While taking picture my Dad damn near fell off a cliff lol. Thanks so much for the memories. Great shot

where I am from there was a hill. as a child it seemed like a mountain. my first trip west was around 1965. East of Holbrook looking west, the Humphreys peak (12633 feet and tallest in Arizona) can be seem on a clear day. It seemed like it was taking all day to get there. I went to stay with a friend and his wife Las Gatos, CA. there are mountains to the east/north. the sun was not visible until nearly 10 AM. I knew where I was driving and how to return. directions was not in my vocabulary! when I left, I hitched hiked all the way to NE Oklahoma in 56 hours. would have been 50 hours, but I waited from midnight to 6 AM to get a ride in Las Robles, CA
