Nice work. I think I might try to do something in that same vein. The guard tower as center peice, maybe more scifi looking (I can't post a simple realistic image without breaking into hives!)

Cool use of some desert scenery! Nice job with the atmosphere. Definitely has the dusty/hazy feel of a desert area!
