Today I saw the Dura Europos shield in 256 AD. tormented.
According to all the literature I had at my disposal, the result was a legionnaire of the possibly guard troops, if he could have looked on tower 19 of Dura Europos during the siege, before it collapsed due to the tunneling of the attacking Sassanids.
The shield bears exactly the same painting as the archaeological find, the legionnaire is equipped with a helmet type Rainau-Buch / Niederbieber, Langer Lorica Harmata with bronze breastplate with Mars and Aquila representation with Subarmata and red tunica, focale, spathe 3rd century. Type Vimose-Illerup Adal, Pugio 2nd / 3rd century and balteus with decorative leaves.
Since I assume that the shield could have belonged to a special Palatini, I depicted him with Nike as a standard bearer.
