Description
So, I have been reading up about the mouse plague in New South Wales, Australia, and was disturbed to learn that the NSW State Government may be bringing out the 'big guns' in the form of a poison called Bromadiolone. This kills indiscriminately, and has the potential to work its way in to the food chain.
I can only imagine how disturbing it must be to be faced with the sight of millions if not billions of mice causing havoc, but the potential use of this poison seems like a bigger problem waiting to happen. Anyway enough social commentary. My brain being the warped place it is tried to imagine what it would be like if the mice learned of their impending doom - hence this picture.
A big shout out to SmidA for his wonderful Statler freebie - I knew I had to do something special with it the moment I saw it :)
I hope you enjoy.
Graf.

It is a tough situation living with a mice plague and even seeing the footage on the tv does not show how horrible it must be there are millions of mice and they are eating everything and the smell must be horrific also, I have seen hay bales that are meant to be feeding stock that are full of mice, grain silos also, people are living in houses that are full of mice day and night, people are trying to sleep in beds that have mice running over them constantly, mice are present every second of every day there is no rest from them, it is unusual warm weather that has caused the plague to be so bad for so long and the cold snap that people are praying for has not happened, the baits that have been used with success in the past are not working and yes there is a lot of talk of using baits from overseas that have been banned from use in Australia and the flow on effects could be catastrophic to the other innocent animals that eat baited mice, it could be another case of a short term fix that causes long term tragic consequences, it has been going on for months and your picture is correct in showing that the mice are on the move, but they are not fleeing they are marching and marching strong to more areas and nature will eventually restore the balance and the plague will end, but many people cannot wait that long they are desperate now and hopefully help will be given to them without another major problem being created, great picture that has a important message.
Previous Governments tried to solve the problem of the cane beetle that was a huge problem in the sugar cane industry by introducing the cane toad that would eat the cane beetle, only problem was the cane beetle eats the top of the sugar cane while the cane toad sits on the ground watching and now the cane toad has become a major problem and is also toxic to just about everything that touches it, history is full of so called experts that get paid millions of dollars to solve a problem but it seems none of them have any common sense or future sight, it is like when Sarah Connor asked the Terminator will we make it as humans and his reply was "It is in our nature to destroy ourselves" ... let's hope not, we blindly follow our elected leaders and do not question them until it is too late.

I agree; such indiscriminate interventions usually backfire, such as with the introduction of myxomatosis to control rabbits in Europe (and Australia for that matter...)
Not belittling the seriousness of the situation, its a superbly done and darkly humorous image.

This scene is perfectly well done and seems very funny, unlike your text. It's very serious what's happening with the mice, there might be other solutions that wouldn't risk arriving in the plates of humans. It's strange, I remembered that in Australia there were invasions of rabbits that were more than worrying...

The message is clear in its seriousness, having said that... this scene is amazing and so well done! Excellent work! :-)
