Hailey sees some familiarity in the photograph but doesn’t know what to make of it. Losing her parents at such a young age and brought up by a Aunt Jane, she never saw the family photos that are so much a part of a normal childhood. Then she has been learning of family connections from the cousins, but they all seem strange to her. On the other hand why does the mansion seem so familiar. And that moment in the nursery brought back such vivid memories. Was voice she remembered really her father's or something she dreamed? And the warning about the cousins, she doesn’t particularly like them. Cousin Nevil is good looking in a superficial kind of way. The way cousin Elenoir natters on is so annoying. The two seem more silly than dangerous, but it was sort of creepy the way Elenoir grasped her throat last evening while giving her the shoulder rub.
