here is 2 marbles i made.... 1 is glass 1 is a chrome one... if you have seen them call me at 555-1212 there is a 35 cent reward for return in tact and un scratched...... anyway this was a test i am running on raytraced shadows for glass material as you see it hasnt come out right... i am looking ti have a glass type shadow...... i know it is possible but i am unaware of how to do it... i have been messing around with it for a while and still cant get it...... if anyone would like to help let me know thanx........ rate it comment on it whatever u wanna do..... thanx for viewing DG Glass material done by me Chrome material done by me Ground material done by default 3ds materials

Under the "shadow parameters" tab, are your shadows set to "ray traced shadows" or "shadow map"? It looks like they are shadow map to me because of the soft edges.(but I sure could be wrong)

I think the effect you're after is called Caustics.

This is where the glass sphere focusses the light in on the floor. Am I right in assuming you're after that effect? I think you can't do that with the default tools of Max, although in the latest version it might, but I'm not very familiar with the new options.
