I am the author Lyle Aryn. Writing is my first love, my one true passion. Every since I was able to string a sentence together, it's all I've wanted to do. Websites where you can find my work and more are below.
I started using Daz Studio October 23rd of 2018, just as something to dink around with. I'd been signed up with the sight for a while, and would occasionally remember to check for freebies. I was surprised at what I had when I finally loaded up the program. I just started playing around with it, figuring it out. I'd say about 92% of what I've learned in the program I've learned just by playing around with it.
In December I went from being a dutiful son looking after his mom, to the full-time, no nights or weekends off, caretaker of my Mom. As someone who struggles with depression, anxiety and a mood disorder or two, this change has had a drastic impact on my own personal care and well-being. I turned to my blossoming love of doing digital art as a way to cope with the mountains of stress on my shoulders. I do miniature painting, too. But when you haven't slept in 4 days, handling a brush can be very messy. Not being able to paint to my own personal satisfaction was making this avenue of relaxation increasingly frustrating.
Daz Studio has an undo button that you just don't get with painting miniatures.
As my skill with the program grows, so does my confidence. I did the cover to my fifth novel, "Because the Night" using Daz Studio, as well as new covers for two previous releases. (Though they haven't been updated just yet.)
I'm looking to always improve my artistic work, no matter what the medium, and Daz Studio is no different.

Keep writing Lyle. I'll look 0n Amazon
I remember attending a seminar for aspiring writers at Balticon years ago where the panel spent most of the hour trying to convince a standing room only audience that the days of Don Wolheim's DAW Books were over, that paperbacks had a shelf life of two and a half weeks and Star Wars, Star Trek and X File spinoffs were the safer sales than original concept pieces. Quite annoyed, I raised the topic of self publishing, which was in its infancy back then - no Amazon, no pay and print - and was dismissed as it was too expensive, too logistically challenging, and mostly, too much of a threat to the writers on the panel.
My countering with Hefner's starting Playboy with borrowed money didn't help, nor did the little quip that you could pursue your dream and self publish for less than the cost of overhauling an Jaguar E-type cylinder head. I still blame the latter on Captain Morgan... . On the elevator an Aussie man about our age told us that he too thought the panel was up to their ears in poo, that he and an Indonesian woman he'd never met face-to-face had collaborated on a portal piece and self published in trade paperback after setting up a promotional website. They did all of the stuff writers do today and did it well - the novel was a little campy by design but quite enjoyable and well researched down to the description and use of Elizabethan ships and weapons.
He should have challenged the panel. Rubbed it in their noses, even.
Life interfered over the years and we never finished our story, though the plot points and character arcs still linger in my head. I keep up with writers' blogs long after drooping out of the ABA - maybe your work will give me the boot to the backside. If you want to talk writing send me a personal Lyle. Time is crucial to all of us, so no pressure, no risk of slight if you haven't any to spare. It's my pleasure and privilege regardless.

I will definitely make time.
Part of my goal with the art is to create networking opportunities. I'm not a naturally outgoing person, so I've got to work the only way I know how. To strike up conversations.
Thanks for your reply. I'll be dropping you a line later today.

They both look awesome, and you really did a great job on the lighting! Keep up the good work, sir!
I don't know how many times I took a stab at writing stories when I was a kid. I wrote a LOT of short stories (3 - 4 pages), and even though I was a rather lousy student (I bore easily), my teachers told me several times I had a talent for it. I continued doing it all through high school, and even when I was in the Air Force.
I never had ANY idea I'd still be working on a story for over 10 years... Not in my wildest dreams..... But I'm enjoying every second of it!
LyleAryn
Enjoyment is the reason to do it.
That's what I believe. Those that are doing it strictly for profit have kinda ruined it for the rest of us.

Fantatic work!

Fascinating characters - and a very interesting read - thank you!
LyleAryn
Thanks! Hard to believe it's been 22 years since this story first came into my head.

Its always nice to hear the evolution of how a story came about or what inspired you to develop a character for one of them. For me it was taking a creative writing course in the 9th grade...I can't help myself making up stuff since then! Thanks for sharing your story...your render looks awesome by the way! Have a great 4th of July! :-)
LyleAryn
I took one in the 9th grade, too. Probably the most important class I took in High School, over all.

Super image and great story!!! :-)

I have a lot of catching up to do, so just a quick comment : Beautiful work, excellent done!!!!!!!!!!!
LyleAryn
Ah, yes. Catching up is difficult! Then you get all caught up, take a breath, and then you gotta do it all over again.

The road for you has been long and winding for sure. You are a very talented writer. My stories tend to get told in a paragraph so i am probably 'irredeemable'. That is not even a real word is it? Its like saying 'irregardless,' only dumber.
LyleAryn
It's been a lifelong passion, for sure. Thanks, buddy.

This made me worry about mowing my lawn...
