Description
I think this is a fly mimic. it was not aggressive, but sure liked the old flower.
Bodie is mad at me because I closed the gate to the patio with him in the yard. he just keeps digging the ground.
I worked on installing a new vent hood for my stove. I used the first one for 36 years and it was still working. it did not match the stove color

Sphecius speciosus is a species of solitary wasp, be careful it can sting !!

Very beautiful photo with a particularly successful sharpness.

Very beautiful macro shot Richard.
Looks more like a bee than a fly 🪰

Awesome work once again! Isn't always the way it goes when replacing things made in the past...its not always replaced because they don't work, but rather its a matter of personal taste. :-)

A great, detailed photo of this critter, Richard!
Home improvement projects are Soooooo much fun! LOL

Wonderful photo but, please take care, Mo must be right, wasps can sting many times and you never know how much they might have improved their venom. It's better to be cautious. Old stuff were designed for reliability, the fancy new ones are designed to get most profit out of it, reliability was wiped from their dictionary. It's like when you go to sleep with a most wonderful mascara and find yourself waking up in the morning next to a mummy, this is how modern stuff works, in many cases.

Excellent shot !

Odd looking critter. I think Bodie will become "un-mad" as soon as dinner time approaches. Dog's often forgive great injustices when food becomes involved.

black and yellow... great shot

Fabulous macro shot I notice it has 4 wings you can just see where they join together likely puts it in the order hymenoptera like bees wasps and ants etc. The lack of a fury body would tend to rule out a bee so possibly a wasp of some kind
