Description
They spent the rest of that day and the next relaxing. Jo helped Remtani and Jaidu use the computer to do the assignment Shay had given them. Jaidu felt like they were cheating, but the others assured her it was like using a library and looking up things in books. After that, she was fascinated.
Nim prowled around the house until he heard Jo’s parents had gotten home safely.
“Are all dragons this possessive of their in-laws?” Carla asked Ann. “He doesn’t even get along with them.”
“To this extent, I’m not sure. But families are important to dragons.”
Ann spent a good deal of the time studying spells to raise her energy to be able to open the gate. “You know, I can help you,” Nim offered. “We’re leaving, so I should be fine.”
“You’re casting the transport spell home. I don’t want Andy blinded again. He can help me with this one. I just want to be sure that I’m ready. No trances, right?”
“No trances.” Nim nodded.
After supper, Steve and Carla drove them back to where Steve had picked them up. They said their goodbyes and promised to visit again. Carla and Steve promised to keep an eye on Jo’s parents too. Then, Ann opened the gate and they went through to Erilu. Deyama was waiting for them on the other end. She threw her arms around Vor and kissed him in a surprising show of affection. He gave her a bottle of balsamic vinegar and a bar of unsweetened baker’s chocolate. She was delighted to receive both.
He then asked about Shunati, but she hadn’t heard anything. She offered to let him go visit. He was obviously torn, both being worried about his cousin and missing his pledged.
“Vor, we’ll check on Shunati and scry you. If there’s a problem, then you can come down. But, Pt’this didn’t seem worried,” Ann offered.
Vor nodded in agreement. Then, Nim, with Ann’s help cast the transport spell back to Sen-gan.
Ann and Andy went to talk with Shunati about Vor. He wasn’t happy they had told Vor he was in quarantine and caused him to worry. He understood they had needed to tell him something. He scried cousin to let him know he was okay.
Jaidu went to find Shay and Mishtali to tell them all she had seen. Thailyn and Remtani had gone with her. There were multiple times they had to assure them she wasn’t exaggerating.
Remtani then went to find his own parents, suddenly wanting to see them.
Thailyn went to find Darkham. The trip had taken a toll on him and he wanted to make sure it didn’t damage his heart.
Dae and Ti contacted Pt’this to let him know they were back before heading off to the home to see Sapphire and the kids.
Jo and Nim went to their room to unpack and let Nim rest. The trip back had strained his incision some, although it was nowhere near as bad as it had been on the way there.
“I’ll be glad to be better,” Nim said.
Jo nodded and curled up with him. “It’s good to be home.”
Nim laughed. “Home? You’ve only lived here a month.”
“Home is where the heart is. My heart has lived here much longer.”
He kissed her. “I’ll be happy when we can do more than that.” He told her.
“Soon enough,” Jo said.
“Do you want me to scry your parents so we can let them know you made it safely?” Nim offered.
“No. You’re not strong enough after transporting us back. Tomorrow will be good.”
