Description
Marc Seguin (1786 – 1875) was a French engineer, inventor of the multi-tubular steam-engine boiler and the wire-cable suspension bridge.
He built The first bridge of this type in 1825 connecting Tournon to Tain over the Rhône. Too low for the navigation of steamships, the bridge is raised and transformed into a footbridge and is doubled by a new one built on the same model, inaugurated in 1849. It was finally destroyed in 1965 to "facilitate navigation"
