Patrick Troughton was the first to wield a sonic device (a simple "pen light") and only once, maybe twice. Jon Pertwee was the one to make the sonic part of "his thing", giving it a gran debut it in "The Se Devils". His prop is similar to what you see here, except that the "cone" was flush with emitter ring and the featureless cylinder segment was yellow with a thin "barber pole" spiral wrapped along its length. This version is what Tom Baker popularized during his 7 year run,
