Description

They both lunged, and their swords crossed. Time moved so slowly. She could feel her hair flutter as his blade danced close. You're too slow, she remembered thinking. Her own started to sink into his chest. And for a second. A brief second. She felt his heart beat vibrating from the tip of her blade, down to the hilt. Before it was pierced. Savaged. And the rhythm stopped. The tip of his blade rested against her left bosom. Started to pierce the skin. It didn't matter. She was right. She had been faster. It was okay now. She closed her eyes and waited for it. Then instincts took over. Sent a message to her brain. It didn't have to be over. Not yet. Her body twisted. The blade tore her flesh, but it was only the momentum. He was dead, there was no other force. The was a huge gash, blood started to flow freely. But she'd live. She felt a brief euphoric jubilation. Then the smell hit her senses; sweet and pungent, mixed with the coppery tones of her blood. Devil's Purge. Of course. He had laced his sword with poison. She fought down the panic, willed herself to analyze her situation. The orc reinforcements had been in shock when their leader fell at her feet. Then the shock turned into fury. They wanted her blood. The archers appeared and started raining her with arrows. But their momentary panic had served it's purpose. There was a window of hope. And she decided she wasn't going to die here. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Almost forgot to post this here :-p.
