the central cloud is like a huge anvil---an imposing cloud! (It's almost like a tornado.) You caught a great moment, because there's a lot of light around that 'anvil', and it looks like it's breaking through the other clouds. I recognize these skies---we get them in the midwest too. A really dramatic shot---and the trees on the bottom are all we need to 'root' us.

Very dramatic and dangerous-looking sky. And where I live, one inch of rain is 1/13th of our entire annual rainfall. (It was the same down in Southern California, too, but fewer lakes, rivers, and creeks down south. I should learn more about the hydrology of my new home.)

Wicked looking clouds! Awesome shot, Richard! We had a pretty wicked storm roll through here a few days ago. Some parts of Kansas City got 7 inches in a couple hours. I was amazed I didn't have any water in my basement!
