Great formations with the blue sky .

Cool looks similar to the rocks at the Alabama hills, outside of Lone Pine on 395.

I used to be a caretaker on a property that rather resembled this. Oddly enough, people DID think that the rocks were there for the taking, but some of those rocks were Indian artifacts, and they didn't know it was no longer legal to simply scoop them up. "I hunted arrowheads here as a kid, why can't I now?" "Uh, maybe the wire fences and the No Trespassing signs could have been a clue?" [chuckle]

like the sign says. only leave the park with your memories/photos/ and any trash. Federal crime to remove anything on park property

you always get a balance between detail and the softer more rounded parts of a landscape. This has both, along with real varieties in hue (beige to dark rust reds). And those tuffets of grasses or whatever those are. You caught the peak pretty much in the center. A typically beautiful, balanced, detailed and flowing rocky landscape from you. Thalek's comment is fascinating! I'd hate to take anything from this landscape, for fear that we wouldn't have any left in 20 years...

a great looking place, looks like some one has taken a knife and sliced through parts of it to expose the inner red surfaces

What an amazing formation, and a great, detailed photo! Yeah, those boulders have been there for centuries, and that's where they need to stay.
