Description

I went early this morning to get my oil changed, so I decided to walk at a park. a large area of the spillway of the lake had fell apart, so they were diverting the main water flow. the birds were so many and also turtles

Love this shot, Richard... it looks amazing! The turtles are so cute when you see them swimming with their little ones stacked on their back... so yeah, don't feed the wildlife, Richard... what's that in your pocket? breadcrumbs lol No worries... I always feed them too. I pretend I'm stretching and yawning... and throw them some food really quick lol

Is that a crane or egret in the middle of the right hand side? A tall white bird? The reflection in the water are nice. I'm glad you found this special place.

might be a crane. Egrets have much longer legs. there was an Egret walking around where I was working (maybe 18-20 years ago), not doing any harm. an old lady called animal control to run it off. I was thinking that she had nothing better to do.

re yours and bakapo's comments: boy if I saw a crane like this in Chicago, I'd jump for joy! (don't get too many o' them in these here parts...) Anyway, if one looks closely, they'll see the egret's beautiful reflection in the water. Man, I'm not sure exactly what happened here (I understood your explanation, but I can't quite tell what was changed)...but it doesn't matter, because the contrast of that lush vegetaion w/ those beautiful muddy-green reflections is wonderful. Such detail in the trees and bushes; and your greens are tinged with glorious yellows! I think this is beautiful.

So many layers of interest here. After the majesty of the reflection, you begin to notice the area is teaming with wildlife; then the dozens of humans seemingly unaware of all that going on around them. Wonderful.
