Description
Thanks for viewing my image. To make it a bit more interesting, I'm adding an explanation to what it is that you are viewing.
The weapon he carries in his right hand in called a "macuahuitl," a name derived from the Nahuatl language and means "hand-wood." Its edges are embedded with obsidian blades. Obsidian is capable of producing an edge sharper than high quality steel razor blades, easily decapitating a human.
I've added two of the Aztec gods to accompany the warrior:
God, Upper Left--Tezcatlihpoca/Tloque-Nahuaque
"Lord of the near and the in between." He is the Toltec and Aztec god of darkness and discord, sometimes represented as a jaguar, who was worshiped as co-creator of the world along with his adversary Quetzalcoatl.
God, Lower Right--Quetzalcoatl
Quetzalcoatl is the Nahuatl name for the Feathered-Serpent deity of ancient Mesoamerican culture. He was known as the inventor of books and the calendar, the giver of maize (corn) to mankind, and sometimes as a symbol of death and resurrection. In Mesoamerican myth, Quetzalcoatl is also a mythical culture hero from whom almost all mesoamerican peoples claim descent.
For those of you who actually read my description, thank you and I hope you've learned something new today.

He's awesome! This stuff fascinates me. Thanks for the extra info. The background images do add a lot to his story. The pose is perfect and so is his face and misty light that come from behind. He pops off the screen!

Lots of info provided with your cool image Barb. That is a blunt looking weapon he is holding. Love his golden head gear.5++

It's always fascinated me that the same symbols appeared in Mesopotamia and Central America. This is as sharp as his obsidian blade...... PS I'd always want Quetzalcoatl to win any battle of the gods....

wow, you seem to know your aztec culture! Years ago, we studied the Aztecs, first for their art, but then for their more general culture...I wish I remembered things today, because it so rich, deep and fascinating. (I remember everyone opening the text and crying, "were they kidding with these NAMES???") (even now I can't pronounce them!) I read every word of your description---thank you!---and I love your warrior: He's got a real in-the-middle-of-an -action pose, ready, threatening, and defending (his macuahuitl is both threatening and defensive in your pose). I never knew about the macuahuitl, and I'm pretty sure anyone carrying one would get whatever they wanted from me. I love the red sash against that light brown, and the reds elsewhere, and the head gear, which I assume (from your work) is traditional. And you have one elbow touching Tezcatlihpoca (I'll call him "ted"), and his fingers touching Quetzalcoatl (let's call him "Quetz") (I could be annihilated for that joke, ya know)---you designed this really well. And I love the colors of the mists behind him. Boy I didn't expect this, but your uploads constantly surprise me. Wonderful job, barb, and thanks for the description. (If you can pronounce all those aztec and toltec names, you deserve a nobel prize.) Love the upload. (And thank you so much for your comments. I'm very grateful for them all.)

I do remember reading about these Aztec gods way back when, and I found their culture quite fascinating. I also remember seeing some programming on the History Channel that showed a lot of items from their culture - including that rather nasty bit of weaponry. Apparently it was quite effective and deadly in the hands of a skilled warrior.
Really outstanding work on this brave warrior, Barb.
