Description
My friend and stalwart of our site, Harry (goodoleboy), is one of a number of regulars who've been away from RR for a while now, and I wanted to send my wishes and great gratitude for all the years he contributed here (he goes back to my very first year), and for all gave to me and the site each day.
Those of you who know him know he was out there---on the streets of Los Angeles---photographing every day come hell or high water, catching things most photographers never touch, like padlocks, endless types of concrete (w/ all kinds of light), tree roots, eyeglass shadows, those abandoned shoes (!), decayed furniture, you name it...Yet he also shot beautiful sunrises, sun flares on railway tracks, gorgeous fog shots, stunning antique cars and so on.
Plus his flowers: His rose series was one of the best on the site, as were his orchids and lantana and daisies and so on.
And he caught these even when his back went out or he'd come out of surgery, or was in pain (dedication)...and he was a terrific supporter, leaving some of our most erudite comments. Harry keeps me apprised of his life, incl the terrible droughts, wildfires and pandemic that have ravaged his state, along with the health matters that have visited him so many times. If I could wave a wand as they say.......And finally: He's a veteran of WWII---he fought in the Pacific---for which we all owe a great debt of gratitude.
I made one of my abstracts (w/ that familiar view of my Lake) with which I say: I wish you all the best the universe has to offer Harry, with a big thank you for your kindness and support, and of course for your work and dedication. And I wish you a much better year ahead (may the powers that be hear me, for once!)---you deserve that and much more. Tons of peace, friend (and l'shanah tova!), with lots of light and healing in abundance, Mark

A wonderful and cheerful dedication. A Higher Power is watching in each view. The colors are stunning and the water reflecting the pretty city is lovely and calming. The city glows and the light shines brightly in each image. This is beautiful work, Mark! May Harry be well and strong.

Good lawd! A stunning series of colorful oscilloscope-like images to greet me in this outstanding dedication, or shout-out, as you would so subtly put it, Mark. These are so fantasy land, high contrast and dreamlike that Chicago doesn't enter my mind, even though they basically reflect your fair city. I wish I knew how you did this art. The colors are sharp and stunning. Why do I think of The Land of Oz? As for my present efforts, I don't get out like I use to and take photos anymore, with my age, physical infirmities and agonizing brain fog having seen to that, so all I do currently is place my old stuff with various photographic Facebook groups. I also dig out Internet photos from the deep historical past and edit them for presentation. Facebook doesn't have the basic nonphoto artists that Renderosity has by any means, far from it, but at least it's something to spend time on. As for being a veteran of World War II, not too many of us left. That said, thanks again for this wonderful salute, and wish you many more years of stunning art creations, my friend.

I do miss seeing his wonderful photos here. I wish him all the best, and from his comment above, it seems he's hanging in there. And a big Thank You to Harry for his service!
