Description

This was my last entry for the Triptych contest. Three the same Apophysis fractals, 2 of which with different operation. Ha,ha, and then thrown to the wall. Thank you very much for your look.

This is an amazingly complex image---you've taken a "theme," and you've made 3 variations of it. The top piece has very Japanese colors---the kinds of colors we find in traditional Japanese prints (that wonderful sea-blue, and those wonderful sea-greens). You have two circular organisms, with all kinds ot tentacles coming off of them. And all kinds of snaking vines, as if they grew from the ocean floor. Your background is a muted beige, with cream hues and very faint green hues mixed in. A gorgeous palette, Jacomina.

The bottom-left image is like a view through a frosted window: Lots of frozen droplets. (You have droplets in the big image, but they don't look like condensed moisture. In the lower left image, they look like moisture condensed on a very cold window.) Beautiful textures too, and wonderful hazy hues too---as if you dropped transparent silk on top of it. Gorgeous.

The lower right has those circular organisms too, only these have webwork in them, like the structures of cells. And the 'tentacles' are like carved butter, or big sails. You have a more autumnal palette here: Oranges, reds, etc. The colors are slightly pale, too...pastel hues. The three panels are beautiful on their own; but, in the triptych, they make a wonderful combination. I also like that you put these on a brick wall, and you've beveled the edges. A beautiful, complex piece. Bravo.
