Description

I posted a different version of this eons ago, but just had to post another one today...if the effect isn't visible, just zoom... It's real: It's a sunrise over Lake Michigan, and that optical effect---the sun "bubbling up" from the water---is amazing in person. (See it large:) It's from the atmosphere bending the light rays, and it's a rare treat for a photographer. This was several years back... I wanted to say one other thing. That "buddha" piece I posted just before this ("2,982,436", for dear barb/bakapo) was actually based on a long and wondrous experience of many years of meditation, years ago. I won't go into details here, but I studied several meditation traditions to where I was meditating many hours a night (it replaces alot of sleep), and had deeply moving experiences which have stayed with me to this day. It also unlocked many creative parts in me which are present in everything I create to this day, as well as in some of my comments. I just thought that might be of interest...we get inspiration from all kinds of places... Anyway, have a fine rest of the week, and I hope you're all healthy and whole. (Lake Michigan, a few blocks from home...and you often see couples out at dawn around here...) ------------------

Its wonderful that you share with us the experience that you acquired through meditation and how it unlocked your creativity! I have often heard people say how transcending meditation can be for them.

This sunset image is beautiful and you did a fantastic job taking this photograph. Images like this one are timeless and always help to remind us of the beauty that nature provides for us to enjoy! I like how the image has a couple and some tree branches in it, as it helps to add more interest to this great image...yet the center of attention will always be that amazing sun! Excellent work! :-)

I'm glad your past reflections, meditations and techniques are still such a big part of your life. You have such a deep and beautiful soul. This photo is so amazing! The sun and earth kissing like this is cool and really beautiful. The colors are outstanding and they make me feel hopeful, especially with the silhouette of the people adding love, kindness, and sharing to the scene. Bravo for capturing such a wonderful scene!

Great contrast in this pic of our solar sun, literally pouring whatever applicable liquid ingredients is has into Lake Michigan, Mark. Love the clouds and pinkish sky effects.

What an extraordinary capture, Mark--it looks like the water is burping a big bubble, the sun, into the atmosphere. Don't know if you've tinted the pix red, but if not, that is one red sky warning for sailors :) Thanks for sharing your practice of meditation--something more people should do--might help them to become more emotionally and psychically balanced.

thanks as always, barb. The red was mostly there, but it was intensified by the camera and my not using proper settings for such light. But also it was that moment in dawn when the sky is a strange pinkish red...the light lasted for a minute. (There are times when you want to scream at the sun, "will you just sit still for one minute??? I want to capture this light!"). Some pics are bears to capture well, unless you're expert and have a terrific camera. This pic was actually toned down, which is why it looks a bit produced...thanks again, Barb.

I never get the chance to drive out east of me to get similar captures my friend. With the smoke in the air from the fires we see red sunrises and sunsets at times. Almost as beautiful as your magnificent photo Mark. love the red hue around d the bright sun. I never tried the art of meditation myself.

This is just too cool, mark! I've seen photos of this phenomenon, but haven't seen it in person. You got a stunning shot of it! It almost looks like one of those decorative round light bulbs - only a really, really big one! LOL I really love the magenta hues in the sky and rim light on the clouds. I really should get up before 10 or 11 AM.... LOL

I think I need to look into some of those meditation techniques... With all the chaos going on here - and everywhere - it might help me reorganize and refresh the 6 remaining functional brain cells I have left.. 😜

Good stuff here, buddy!

If you listen very carefully, you can hear the hiss when the sun hits the water. I got that line from somewhere, don't remember where, but cool capture.

Hello, very interesting and strong work seems to address the issue of our hunger for energy, perhaps the real problem of our civilization

An impressive photo, dear friend. It is like "the birth of a sun". And it's a girl, lol! The pink glow that first greeted the earth her powers flow Two people dreaming A flat sea.

Exceeding a border between 'Well and Wee'.

And then I love your meditation description very emotional Something that you always stay Souvenirs deep Meditate As if you ran over water.

Believe me, Mark: There are 2 poems here in Dutch, really true. And I guess, I feel (and see) the best of you.

p.s., I'm planning for a long time, to thank you via a site mail for all your wonderful words in my gallery. I do my best, Mark.
