Description
Created in 1941 Sonderkommando Dora is an example of military geoscientific reconnaissance during WW II in the North African theater of war. It consisted of a military group of 100 personel and a scientific unit about 10 geoscientists, such as geographers, cartographers, geologists, astronomers, meteorologists and archeologists and they prepared special maps of the environmental setting of the Libyan Sahara.The mission of Sonderkommando Dora lasted from April 1942 to January 1943.
