when I first saw this, I was immediately drawn in by the ceremony-like presentation, like an ancient artifact displayed with museum lighting (great lighting and colors!), and the question, once again, of how you do these highly concrete objects in fractals, again and again. Then I looked at the title, and it was perfect---though it threw the whole thing into mystery. (Pretttty sneaky...) Barb/goldie referred to the scarab, which made total sense, esp w/ an ancient egyptian in your title...and then I saw the scarab over and over. A very stylized scarab, because each instance has these beautiful long pincers/antennae/legs. On that theme, the large central object would be a gigantic scarab' then you have a small one on top of that, and---looking verrrry closely---a few tucked underneath (in dark shadow---I looked! I actually used a magnifying glass). I love how you repeat the extended 'limbs' over and over. You do this in fractals, where you create these bold objects...this looks like a precious gold and maybe brass artifact, from an ancient storehouse, where "Cleopatra" only intensifies the mystery. Ie, is this a secret jewel of hers? an amulet? something that she prayed to, stroked, asked boons of? (I know the scarab was sacred to ancient egypt, but I don't remember much else.) You reveal just enough of CPatra's secrete to keep the viewer pulled in and wondering. Beyond that, the visual is beautiful, barb, total definition, great light and shade, and beautiful colors. (That red highlight on the bottom of the large sphere is wonderful.) Terrific, Barb. A museum piece in a very private and beautifully lit museum...

Very nice work Barb. It's kind of like a surprise egg. You never know what's in there either. In this case, it will probably contain the secret of Cleopatra ;)
